Introducing biology teachers to 10k Science at NABT 2024
On Nov 14 & 15, our 10k Science team traveled down to Anaheim, CA to exhibit at the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) conference for the first time.

Laura Lynn Gonzalez (CEO) and Liz Clark (Science Content Advisor) led two sessions at the conference as leaders in VR for education:
Session 1 “Exploring authentic data in VR,” the two shared insights on how 10k Science brings in real science data from scientists to visualize and contextualize like never before.
Session 2 “Engaging students in immersive VR experiences using real-world research and AI” drew attention from attendees as Laura and Liz demonstrated the evolution of VR as an optimal medium for communicating science concepts otherwise hard to visualize.
The rest of our team, Jack Schonbrun (CTO), Stephanie Pan (Head of Product), and Chanelle Mosquera (Engineer) facilitated demonstrations of 10k Science on Meta Quest 2 headsets and on computers at Booth #400 on both days.
Over 100 biology teachers experienced for the first time the immersion of going into a sickle cell to treat a patient using CRISPR, delving into plant cells to discover pathogens, and hearing how AI can verbally guide students through learning.
Two immersive 3D experiences were available to experience in VR and our newly available web version for computers:
CRISPR & Sickle Cell Experience: Zooms the user into the human body to see into blood vessels, sickle cells, and blood cells to treat sickle cell disease using CRISPR technology at the molecular level.
Trouble in Sunshine Creek: Explore why the leaves in this vineyard are yellowing and dying. Zoom into plant cells to see how an insect transmitted pathogens to these plants.
Naturally, biology teachers gave all the right answers to the educational prompts from our AI Guide in each experience.
Some of the reactions we got from teachers:
“This is what I expected science in VR to be like!”
“This is so cool!” “Holy mackerels.”
“OMG I AM IN THE NUCLEUS.” “Oh my gosh, it is all around too, wow.”
The positive reception for 10k Science was beyond our expectations, as teachers and administrators were eager to try 10k Science at our booth. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to speak with teachers who are as excited as we are about innovating science education in their classrooms.
We received twice as much interest in our 10k Science Pilot program than we anticipated, and are looking forward to introducing 10k Science to more students and schools across the country.
Contact us at info@dynamoid.com if you’d be interested in piloting with us too!
Thanks to all the educators who visited us at NABT for sharing your enthusiasm with us!
You inspire us to continue innovating science education to make it accessible an engaging for students everywhere.
